CAP welcomed the conservation, repair and reuse of this handsome building and would welcome a unified design to enhance the pavement in front of Beacon House and the RWA.

The Queen's Avenue art deco elevation has high level 'mezzanine' windows in Critall glazing set in recessed Bathstone panels, which are a positive feature in the conservation area and contrast with the banal treatment of the ribbon fenestration of Embassy House and Howard House. The Panel asks the case officer to take conservation advice about the quality of the design of the new windows, which is not equal to those that they would replace.

The Panel was pleased to receive confirmation that the University would not remove the glazing bars to the windows in the side of the main building.
