ST ANDREW'S CHURCHYARD 2009-10
RoseMary MusgraveIn 1998 CHIS decided that the clearance of the churchyard would be its millennium project. It is owned by Bristol City Council and had become shockingly overgrown. A loyal, if small, team of volunteers met every month as a working party – they still do meet and work, but less frequently because the task is now more manageable. Through a generous response from residents to an appeal, CHIS has been able to have the trees professionally surveyed, planted replacement and new trees and shrubs and provided some seats. There is still some money in reserve.
